Brown Huntsman Spider (Heteropoda jugulans) with Caterpillar prey As active hunters these large spiders will eat just about anything they can catch, including this unfortunate caterpillar, large insects, frogs and small lizards. This specimen was around the same size as the one I photographed a few weeks ago carrying its egg sac in a storm water drain.

Australian Stingless Bee (Trigona carbonaria)

Prevalent Pollinator: Australian Stingless Bee (Trigona carbonaria) are often seen in both suburban gardens and bushland areas in south east Queensland, with these individuals photographed working in and out of their mud hive in McDowall, Brisbane. Gathering pollen and defending their nest fills the entire life and purpose for the worker bees belonging to such a hive.
